Dover Mayor Bob Carrier Endorses Stefany Shaheen for Congress

Dover Mayor Bob Carrier endorsed Stefany Shaheen in New Hampshire’s first congressional district primary, citing their shared public service at the local level and her background founding and managing a small business. While visiting local small businesses in Dover on Wednesday morning, Carrier and Shaheen discussed how to tackle the housing crisis and strengthen New Hampshire’s economy by repealing the Trump Administration tariffs.

“Stefany and I share a commitment to giving back to the community where we grew up and raised our families. That’s how I know she will never give up, and never stop fighting to make a difference for New Hampshire families,” said Mayor Bob Carrier. “From her time on the city council, Stefany has proven that she knows how to bring people together to build consensus and when to stand your ground for what you believe. She understands the need for action to reduce the costs of housing, health care, groceries – everything – and she’s got a record of delivering results.”

“Mayor Carrier is a pillar of the Dover community. He’s worked tirelessly to improve education and is working to add hundreds of units of new housing to the city. I am proud to have his support,” said Stefany Shaheen. “New Hampshire families and small businesses struggling with the uncertainty, cruelty and chaos caused by Donald Trump need relief. So do families struggling with the high costs of housing. These are challenges we can solve. No one fights harder than a mom for her kids and that’s how I will fight to solve these problems for all New Hampshire’s families.”

In 2013, Stefany Shaheen was elected to serve on the Portsmouth City Council, where she tackled a parking shortage that was threatening local businesses. When PFAS contamination was discovered in the local water supply, she helped to ensure screening for those exposed to the dangerous forever chemicals and served on the Community Taskforce providing oversight of the clean-up. As Chair of the Portsmouth Police Commission, she successfully advocated for additional resources and reforms to protect public safety.

In addition to Mayor Carrier, Stefany Shaheen has earned endorsements from former Governor John Lynch, and, on the Seacoast, Portsmouth Mayor Deaglan McEachern, environmental steward Dudley Dudley, Testing for Pease Founder Andrea Amico, Portsmouth Police Chief Mark Newport, former State Senators Tom Sherman and Jon Morgan, Representative Marjorie Smith, as well as a number of local small business owners and community leaders.

Since launching her campaign with hundreds of supporters at launch events across the district, Stefany Shaheen has been talking with people about their most pressing concerns, and sharing with them her determination to make a difference for every family in the First Congressional District.
