These men and women answered a call to serve and deserve an equal commitment from the American people for their service. “The Trump Administration cut veterans’ health care – laying off thousands of employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs – while spending billions of dollars on bombs, a ballroom and tax breaks for billionaires. Manchester, NH — Documents and plans regarding a proposed data center in Bow must be released to the public  immediately, says Stefany Shaheen, Democratic candidate for Congress in New Hampshire’s First District, who is calling for a moratorium on data centers in the state. Shaheen is raising concerns over news reports that the project has been under discussion by state and federal officials who have failed to inform Granite Staters.

“The people of New Hampshire have a right to know what is being built in their own backyard, especially when it involves a project of this scale that could impact their water quality, electric rates, and quality of life,” said Shaheen. “It’s clear from reporting by New Hampshire Public Radio that the New Hampshire Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulator Commission, Eversource and Granite Shore Power have been discussing this project for some time without sharing any details with Granite Staters. That’s unacceptable.”

The Friday before Memorial Day in May 2014, my life changed forever. I read a newspaper article reporting that PFAS, then commonly referred to as PFCs, had been detected in drinking water wells at the Pease Tradeport … That was when Stefany Shaheen, then a Portsmouth city councilor, stepped forward.

Stefany became the first local elected official to advocate for PFAS blood testing for people exposed at Pease. She asked difficult questions and continued pressing when the state initially proposed testing only 100 community members. Her willingness to stand alongside families mattered and made a difference.

Sen. Maggie Hassan is joining the fray in the 1st Congressional District, endorsing Stefany Shaheen … “Stefany Shaheen and I first got to know each other as moms of children with tough health challenges — moms who realized that we needed to fight for our children’s healthcare and inclusion,” Hassan said. “Stefany’s fight for her daughter gave her the strength and experience to fight for all families — on the City Council, as an entrepreneur, and on the Police Commission. I served alongside Stefany Shaheen on the task force that then-Governor Maggie Hassan created to investigate the pediatric cancer cluster I had identified on New Hampshire’s Seacoast in 2014. I later spent years on the Pease Restoration Advisory Board, working to address PFAS pollution at the former Pease Air Force Base, and I pushed the EPA to enforce the original Coakley Landfill cleanup plan when regulators sought to roll it back. I know exactly what it looks like when someone shows up for this fight because I watched Shaheen do it from the seat next to mine.

The State Employees’ Association is throwing its support to Stefany Shaheen in the 1st Congressional District Democratic race. Shaheen met with union members and leadership Monday morning in Concord. Union officials said Shaheen’s support for unions during her time as a Portsmouth city councilor and her deep roots in the Granite State made her their pick in a competitive primary.

First Congressional District candidate Stefany Shaheen held a press conference at the Granite State Candy Shop in Manchester, where she said President Donald Trump is profiteering off the White House. The Democratic candidate was joined by former state Supreme Court Justice John Broderick. Shaheen claims the president has enriched himself by $2 billion in the last year, and she is proposing criminal penalties for profiteering off the presidency.

Candidate Stefany Shaheen is highlighting the fight to regulate so-called forever chemicals as she tries to win over voters in the 1st Congressional District. Shaheen is touting the support of environmental advocates in her campaign. It’s a policy realm she’s already quite familiar with. A decade ago, she was helping to lead the charge in Portsmouth for water testing after perfluorochemicals were found in a well near the Pease Tradeport.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Arizona, made four journeys into space as an astronaut, and he’s now venturing into New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District Democratic primary. The senator is endorsing Stefany Shaheen in CD-1, telling his fellow Democrats that she is the “fighter we need.”
