Manchester, N.H. – Stefany Shaheen takes on Donald Trump for cutting health care for New Hampshire families to pay for his ballroom, bombs, and tax breaks for billionaires, in the first television ad launched by her campaign for Congress in New Hampshire’s First District. For years, Stefany has been fighting the insurance companies denying life-saving care to her daughter, who has type 1 diabetes. Fixing America’s broken health care system is personal for Shaheen, and in the ad she vows to fight for every New Hampshire family’s health care as hard as she has fought for her own.
The ad, entitled ‘Alarm,’ will run district-wide in New Hampshire starting on Friday.
“Stefany Shaheen’s drive to fix health care is rooted in the years she’s spent fighting insurance companies to get her daughter the treatment and medications doctors prescribe. No one fights harder than a mom for her kids, and that’s how Stefany will fight for every New Hampshire family,” said campaign manager Emma Greenberg. “And in Congress, she’ll take them on to reverse those cuts.”
The alarm that warns Stefany when her daughter Elle is in danger sounds midway through the ad. Eighteen years ago, at just eight years old, Elle was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The disease requires constant and careful dosing of insulin because if her blood sugar gets too high or too low, she can die.
The relentless demands of this disease motivate Stefany’s fight for affordable, accessible health care. She’s driven by the conviction that doctors should be determining care, not the insurance companies or politicians or a person’s wealth. She built a small business connecting people with chronic conditions to the real-time clinical support they need. When RFK Jr. came to New Hampshire, she went to challenge him face-to-face and ask about the Granite Staters who’ve been priced out of health care on his watch. And she has outlined actions Congress could take now to reduce the cost, and improve the quality, of health care for people across New Hampshire and the nation.
