Concord, N.H. – In case you missed it, NH-CD1 candidate Stefany Shaheen slammed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his visit to New Hampshire as part of his “Take Back Your Health Tour.” Stefany highlighted RFK Jr.’s refusal to meet with New Hampshire families and address the concerns of Granite Staters who have lost their health insurance because of Medicaid cuts from the Trump Administration.

WMUR: Kennedy’s comments on public health draw reaction from congressional candidate Shaheen
By Adam Sexton
Congressional candidate Stefany Shaheen is calling out Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for comments he made last week during a visit to New Hampshire.
While he was in New Hampshire to talk about Lyme disease, Kennedy was asked about boosting public trust in public health.
“We’re going to make these regulatory agencies trustworthy. We’re going to make them improve public trust by making them trustworthy,” Kennedy said. “The government was not always telling the truth to the American public.”
Shaheen challenged Kennedy’s comments.
“It’s absurd,” she said. “I mean, he’s perpetuated conspiracy theories that undermine things like vaccines, things that we know work to keep people healthy and safe. And so, he’s the culprit in terms of undermining people’s confidence in our agencies to protect people and keep people healthy and safe.”

She said she wanted to hear what Kennedy had to say.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get into the press conference, and I was not able to ask him a question,” she said. “But I did want to hear firsthand what he had to say. And what I heard was more of the same noise. He’s talking about taking back your health. What that really means is Americans are on their own.”

Stefany Shaheen of Portsmouth, a Democratic candidate for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st District, criticized Trump and Kennedy for overseeing cuts in Medicare and Medicaid that have denied people access to affordable health care.
“It’s all well and good to say you’re doing more to fight Lyme disease but if people can’t afford health care coverage because of actions you have taken, it’s not going to help these patients at all,” Shaheen said. “My message to the secretary is support the safety net of healthcare that American families have relied upon for generations.”
