Coalition of Dover Mayors Endorse Stefany Shaheen

Dover, NH – Connected by their shared commitment to making a difference for New Hampshire families, a coalition of Dover Mayors is endorsing Stefany Shaheen in New Hampshire’s first congressional district primary. Mayor Elect Dennis Shanahan, current Mayor Bob Carrier and former Mayors Jack Buckley, Karen Weston, Wil Boc and Alex Nossiff, all joined Stefany Shaheen at a local small business in Dover, on Tuesday afternoon in support of her campaign.

“Mayors see the challenges families and local businesses are facing up close.  Having their support is both an honor and a responsibility I don’t take lightly.  We’ve got to fight for working families and small businesses by lowering prices, protecting health care, growing our economy, and expanding opportunity,” said Stefany Shaheen.   And we need to do it now.  No one fights harder than a mom for her kids and that’s how I will fight for all New Hampshire’s families.”

“Everyone who knows Stefany Shaheen knows she stands up for what’s right and fights for what she believes in, no matter what,” said Mayor-Elect Dennis Shanahan. “That’s half the job of being an effective public servant. The other half is listening, learning and finding common ground that can be the foundation for meaningful change. Stefany showed she can deliver that leadership too, while on the Portsmouth City Council and the Police Commission, and it’s the kind of leadership she’ll take to Congress too.”

“When you serve in local government, people come to you directly with their concerns and they expect you to do something about it. It’s face to face accountability.  Stefany Shaheen knows it from her time on the City Council and as a Police Commissioner and it’s why she will be an effective member of Congress,” said former Mayor Will Boc.  “She will be accountable to the voters, her neighbors, the people of New Hampshire, not the special interests down in Washington, D.C.”

“In 1991, a first-time buyer was 28 years old, today, they are 40.  Stefany Shaheen understands this is a problem across New Hampshire and the country, and she’s going to tackle the housing crisis head on,” said former Mayor Jack Buckley, who was Executive Director of the Dover Housing Authority for more than 30 years.  “I love Dover, it’s my home.  I know Stefany Shaheen will fight for the families here like she does her own family. It’s why she has my vote.”

“Stefany and I share a commitment to making a difference for people in New Hampshire that comes from growing up and raising our families here,” said Mayor Bob Carrier. “She delivered meaningful results for families on the City Council and as a Police Commissioner.  Her record is one that people can trust.”

“Stefany Shaheen is my choice because she will fight to reduce costs for New Hampshire families,” said former Mayor Alex Nossiff.  “Right now the price of everything, groceries, energy, housing, health care is going up and up.  Family budgets just can’t take any more.  To make change, we need someone both capable of building consensus and committed to taking on the powerful corporations jacking who are up prices for New Hampshire families.  Stefany is that person.”

“Tariffs and higher prices are wreaking havoc on local businesses and consumers. Stefany gets it. She built her small business in New Hampshire and she raised her family here so we know she’ll never stop fighting for us,” said former Mayor Karen Weston. “Main Street small businesses operate with smaller margins, tighter budgets and so they need someone who will fight for them in Congress. I believe Stefany Shaheen is the champion they’re looking for.”

In 2013, Stefany Shaheen was elected to serve on the Portsmouth City Council, where she tackled key infrastructure challenges threatening local businesses. When PFAS contamination was discovered in the local water supply, she helped to ensure screening for those exposed to the dangerous forever chemicals and served on the Community Taskforce providing oversight of the clean-up. As Chair of the Portsmouth Police Commission, she successfully advocated for additional resources and reforms to protect public safety.

In addition to the Dover Mayors Stefany Shaheen has earned support from Teamsters Local 633, former Governor John Lynch, Portsmouth Mayor Deaglan McEachern, environmental steward Dudley Dudley, former State Senators Jon Morgan and Tom Sherman, Testing for Pease Founder Andrea Amico, Portsmouth Police Chief Mark Newport, as well as hundreds of local small business owners, elected officials and community leaders.
