Stefany Shaheen gets first major union endorsement in race for 1st Congressional District

Stefany Shaheen holds a solid polling lead in the field of 1st Congressional District Democrats, and she is now bolstering her position with the first major union endorsement in the 2026 race.

Teamsters Local 633, with nearly 5,000 members in New Hampshire, is backing Shaheen as their candidate for Congress in NH-01.

Local 633 represents a wide cross-section of organized labor, ranging from drivers and warehouse workers to municipal employees and correctional officers.

“What unites us is the belief that hard work deserves good pay, affordable health care, and the job security to support a family in New Hampshire,” said Jeff Padellaro, Teamsters Local 633 secretary treasurer. “Stefany Shaheen believes that too, and we know she’ll fight for us in Congress.”

Shaheen is calling the labor endorsement an honor.

“Working families are getting hammered while billionaires and big corporate special interests are getting tax breaks and backroom deals that they don’t need,” Shaheen said. “This has to change.”

Shaheen is one of a half-dozen Democratic candidates running for Congress in the 1st District attempting to succeed U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, who is seeking the U.S. Senate seat opening with the retirement of Shaheen’s mother, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-New Hampshire.
