Why Won’t RFK, Jr. Meet With Granite Staters Priced Out Of Health Care?

Portsmouth, NH – Health care advocate and candidate for Congress (NH01) Stefany Shaheen is inviting Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. to speak with Granite Staters whose health care has become unaffordable as a result of his actions and the Trump Administration’s health care cuts, during his trip to New Hampshire on Friday.

“If RFK, Jr. is coming to New Hampshire, he should speak to the Granite Staters I talk with every day who are facing higher costs for worse health care and families who’ve been priced out of their insurance altogether as a result of the Trump administration’s actions,” said Stefany Shaheen. “He should visit the rural health clinics that have closed because of the Medicaid cuts in Trump’s budget. He should meet with families exposed to PFAS in the drinking water and soil who are horrified that this Administration is delaying cleanup of these forever chemicals and weakening pollution standards. He should sit down with any of the thousands of Granite State seniors who do not have coverage for vision, dental and hearing care because Medicare doesn’t cover these essential services. He should hear from the families exposed to Measles at Logan Airport because of the dangerous conspiracy theories he promotes.”

“These are the concerns Granite Staters are sharing with me. In the same way I have fought insurance companies to get the health care my daughter needs to survive after her diagnosis with type 1 diabetes, I’m running for Congress to fight for all our families’ health. This starts by holding RFK Jr. and Donald Trump accountable for their repeated failures, out-of-touch priorities and dangerous disregard for our health,” added Shaheen.

Families across New Hampshire are paying the price for RFK’s reckless disregard for public health, resulting in more illnesses, higher health care costs, and fewer places to go for care when needed. Monthly premium costs for a family of four in New Hampshire are nearly two times higher than those same costs were last year on the insurance marketplace.

The Washington Post reported 77,000 seniors in New Hampshire were forced off Medicare Advantage plans this year, many were left without viable alternatives for dental, hearing and vision care. Ammonoosuc Community Health Services closed in November and HealthFirst, which operates in Laconia and Franklin, closed its clinic in Canaan in October. Both closures were due, in part, to the federal Medicaid cuts. Last fall, the Trump administration announced it would delay PFAS clean up at Defense Department sites, like the former Pease Air Base, across the country. Granite Staters flying out of Logan Airport in early April were warned they may have been exposed to Measles.

Trump and RFK, Jr. have proven time and again that they threaten the health and well-being of New Hampshire families.
